Frequently asked questions
How do commissions work?
Fill out the commission form below with your preferred commission type, details, and reference photos. I’ll review your request and get back to you within 2–3 days.
Once confirmed, you’ll receive an invoice for a 50% initial deposit. Work will begin once the deposit has been settled.
An initial sketch will be sent for your approval, during which minor revisions may be requested. Once the sketch is approved, no further revisions can be made.
The remaining 50% balance will be due once your illustration is complete and before the final artwork is shipped, emailed or delivered.
What kind of illustrations can I commission?
I create custom digital illustrations based on my usual illustration/art style. Subjects may include portraits, couples, pets, special moments, places or other personalized artwork. You may refer to my past illustration works below.
If you have something a little different in mind, feel free to reach out at orders@madebyfatestudio.com before placing your order to see if I can accommodate your idea.
Do I need to provide reference photos?
Yes, please! Clear, high-quality reference photos help me capture the details of your subject as accurately as possible.
For portraits, photos taken in good lighting with the face and important features clearly visible work best. You may submit multiple references if needed.
Will the illustration look exactly like my reference photo?
Your reference will guide the illustration, but the final artwork will be interpreted in my own artistic style. Small details, colors, composition, or other elements may be adjusted to create a more cohesive finished piece.
Can I request changes?
Yes. Minor revisions may be requested after the initial sketch has been sent to you for approval. Once approved, sketch is deemed final.
Major changes that differ significantly from the original request—such as changing the reference photo, pose, composition, outfit, background, or concept after work has begun and initial sketch has been sent for approval—may require an additional fee, depending on my capacity to accommodate such request/s.
How long will my commission take?
Typical turnaround is approximately 7 to 10 business days from confirmation of your commission.
Turnaround times may vary depending on the complexity of the illustration and the number of commissions currently in my queue.
If you need your artwork by a particular date, please contact me before ordering. Rush requests may be accommodated depending on availability and may incur an additional fee.
Will I receive a physical copy?
Yes! You may choose between a digital-only commission or a framed physical print, available in 5R or A4 size.
Physical prints will be carefully prepared and shipped to your provided address. Please note that shipping fees will apply separately.
Can I print my illustration?
Yes! Your commission may be printed for personal use, such as displaying it in your home or giving it as a personal gift.
Please note that print colors may vary slightly depending on your screen, printer, paper, and printing service.
Can I use the artwork commercially?
Standard commissions are for personal use only unless commercial usage rights have been discussed and purchased separately.
You may not reproduce the artwork for sale, use it on products or merchandise for profit, use it as business branding, or otherwise commercially exploit the artwork without prior written permission.
For commercial commissions or licensing inquiries, please contact orders@madebyfatestudio.com.
Who owns the artwork?
Purchasing a commission gives you permission to use the finished illustration for the agreed personal use. Copyright and intellectual property rights to the artwork remain with Made by Fate / Fate Fernando (the artist), unless otherwise agreed to in writing.
The artwork may not be resold, claimed as your own creation, substantially altered for redistribution, or used commercially without permission.
Will you post my commission online?
I may share completed commissions in my portfolio, website, or social media as examples of my work.
If your commission is a surprise gift or you would prefer that it remain private, please let me know when placing your order.
Can I cancel my commission?
Because commissioned illustrations are personalized and created specifically for you, commissions cannot be cancelled or refunded once work has begun.
Please make sure your references and commission details are correct before your order is confirmed.
Can you draw something that isn't listed?
Possibly! I love hearing your ideas. If your concept falls outside the available commission options, email orders@madebyfatestudio.com with a description of what you have in mind and any relevant references.
I’ll let you know whether I can accommodate your request and provide any applicable pricing or details.
